Spring has begun and now is a great time to search the world around us for natural objects to create a wearable work of art in bronze. Students will learn how to create a casting mold using delft clay and how to melt and pour metal into a mold. Some suggestions for good casting objects are sticks, nuts, seashells, and fossils. Note, when choosing objects- choose items that have some thickness (at least 1 mm), can withstand impact, and can be removed from a two-part mold (The object should not have an overhanging lips or deep crevices. For example, an open pinecone would not work for this process.)
